“Supply chain” is a denomination often abused in these times, although it refers to a precise meaning: all the steps of agricultural production, from the fields, to processing, to distribution, to consumption.

A Supply Chain is virtuous when it is controlled, indeed governed, by producers who today, on the other hand, in most cases are the weakest link in the Supply Chain, almost always managed by those who sell the products to the consumer (wholesalers and mass retail channel).

This is why producers have to organize themselves in order to govern the greatest number of steps in the Supply Chain and to reduce that number in absolute terms.

S’Atra Sardigna is an Organization of organic Producers that manages milk production, transformation into cheese in affiliated cheese factories and its distribution with its farmer members, allowing them to get the highest added value because it decreases the steps in the Supply Chain and controls them almost until consumption.
